Interview! Doulas – The Inside Scoop with Sarah Rochel Grunbaum

Doulas – The Inside Scoup with Sarah Rochel Grunbaum

In this podcast I interview Sarah Rochel Grunbaum – a highly experienced doula who recently made Aliyah from Brooklyn. With over 2000 births behind her (not counting 7 of her own k’ah), she really knows what she’s talking about.

Sarah Rochel’s unique blend of expertise and sensitivity is truly remarkable. Even if you already plan to use a doula for your next birth, or have used one in the past, there’s a lot to gain from this interview!

Some topics we cover:

What IS a doula?

Who should hire a doula? (Hint: pretty much every woman having a baby!)

Why? What can a doula do for you if you plan to get an epidural, have a C-section, or use a midwife for a home birth?

Are all doulas the same?  When does a doula provide care?

What can women do to empower themselves during the journey to motherhood?

**Sarah Rochel is now offering birth preparation classes remotely through Zoom or telephone ~ recieve private instruction in your home ~ for new and experienced mothers!  Regardless of where you give birth, come prepared and confident for the momentous experience, ensuring a better outcome and an overall more calm postpartum period. For more information on doulas, you can check out the website of DONA International (the largest and most well known doula certifying organization). Viewer discretion advised – it’s not the most modest website, featuring laboring women. 🙂

For the skeptics who want to see some data, here’s a link to the metaanalysis done on continuous labor support (a role generally filled by the doula in modern childbirth) by Cochrane. Even when the most rigorous standards are applied, the benefits of doula support speak for themselves!

    1. Sarah Rochel responds: Postpartum bleeding has many components to the way it plays out. The birth, the number child and overall state of the body has so much to do with it. It’s hard to give suggestions without having that information!
